I have third hour prep, phone # is 623 376 3239, e mail is cassio.saverino@dvusd.org. Born in the Big Apple and attending college at SUNY @ Cortland in NY, I have been a teacher since 1979-80. I spent twenty two years at Deer Valley High School, which included eleven as department coordinator, seven years as JV baseball coach, four years as Boys Varsity Soccer Coach and two seasons as Varsity Swim Team Coach, teaching such classes as AP US HIstory, AP US Government, US Government, and POS 220 (Rio Salado dual enrollment US Government). I sponsored four Close Up trips to Washington D.C. My government classes helped get the stoplight put in on 51st Ave and Union Hills, and in 2000, came close to help pass a law in the state of Arizona. While at DVHS, the following politicians came by the school at my invitation: Morris Udall, John McCain, Barry Goldwater, Terry Goddard, Bob Corbin. In 2005, I transferred to Mt Ridge. After two seasons (and two region titles) , I have stepped down as the girls varsity soccer coach here at Mt Ridge to become the boys freshman basketball coach. I was also the dive coach for two season, stepping down to enjoy the last season of "soccer dad", to travel and watch my son play his last season of collge soccer. I have been married for thirty years (wife, Noel is a recently retired 1st grade teacher at Davidson Elementary School, Cartwright District). I have two children. Daughter, Tara, graduated from ASU, summa cum laude and is currently a fifth grade teacher at Pena Elementary School. My son, Cassio Marc, is a recent graduate of Grand Canyon University, majoring in corporate fitness and was a mid fielder on the Men's Soccer Team for the Antelopes.
